DON TOBIN - DIRECTOR OF COACHING AND TRAINING

On April 3, 1995, Dunedin Stirling Soccer Club announced that Don Tobin joined the Club as Director of Coaching. Tobin is originally from Liverpool, England, where he learned soccer with the Youth Program of the Everton Club. At age 15 he began playing professionally and played for both the English and Irish First Divisions for several years. After moving to the United States, he has played in most of the professional leagues in this country - on multiple occasions being named "Most Valuable Player" on his squad and in the league. He played with, among other teams, the Tampa Bay Rowdies, the Carolina Lightnin', the L.A. Lazers and the Canton Invaders. He was both player and coach with the Memphis Rogues.

Don Tobin provides to the Club not only years of playing experience but also many years of working with young players and youth programs. Don has outstanding credentials as a coach, but his manner and rapport with players and their parents has gone much further to create the Club's atmosphere of friendship and excellence. Under his direction the Club has implemented a uniform and consistent method of training and style of play. Don believes that our teams can be trained in much the same fashion of European Clubs. He also believes in the development of skill through training, hard work and Club-wide camaraderie, and we believe in his methods and in him.

As our Club professional Don has established, through the Club, Don Tobin's Soccer School of Science. Through this Academy Don and other qualified trainers provide indivilualized training for teams and/or individuals who desire additional training to help them achieve their athletic goals. Through the Soccer School of Science, Don regularly trains many of the areas finest soccer talents as well as holding the Club's summer camps for players of all skill and age levels.
