Recreational vs. Competitive Soccer |
|
| |
If you are new to youth soccer, or have not had the opportunity to learn about the different types of youth
soccer programs available, we are providing the following information.

|

About Recreational Soccer |
|
| |
Recreational soccer does not use tryouts, recruiting, or any kind of selection process to
choose players, all players interested in playing soccer may play.
Players for the recreational teams are selected based on player age
and experience, in an attempt to make even teams. Players are
guaranteed a minimum of one-half playing time of every soccer match. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Recreational soccer teams either play in an 'in house' league, where all games are played at their home fields
(Spring, Summer, and Fall Seasons), or play in a traveling League, where half of the games are 'home games' and the other half are played
at neighboring clubs in the area (Winter Season). |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The ultimate goal of recreational soccer is to provide an environment for players who desire an opportunity to
enjoy playing the game of soccer, and to also provide experience to
players new to the sport. |

About Competitive Soccer |
|
| |
Competitive Teams are selected based on a try-out process. Players are
selected based on a variety of criteria including ability, skill and
experience. Decisions on player selection are made by the teams
coaches, in conjunction with the Director of
Coaching. Competitive teams are all considered traveling teams,
playing half their games at home, and half of the games 'away'. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Competitive teams emphasis training and
player development to increase the skill, ability and success of the
players in the program. Competitive teams all train at least twice a
week. The desire of competitive soccer is player development, with a
goal of improvement in the players in all areas of the game:
technical, tactical, physical and mental. |
